Will these actually be wide enough?

They are cut on a broad last through the forefoot, and the upper gives where your foot is widest. If you have extra-wide feet or a bunion, take one size up — the fit guide has a diagram for each foot shape.

How do I measure my foot?

Stand on a sheet of paper with your heel against a wall. Mark the tip of your longest toe, then measure from the wall to the mark. Match that number to the foot length column in the fit guide. Measure at the end of the day, when your feet are at their largest.

My feet swell during the day — will these still fit?

That's what the give in the upper is for. It expands through the day rather than pressing back. If you swell a lot, take the larger size.

The shoe that lives by the door.

A backless loafer mule in brushed suede. Open at the heel, so it goes on standing up — no bending, no shoehorn, no hopping on one foot in the hallway. The suede is soft from the first wear and shapes itself to your foot rather than asking your foot to shape itself to the shoe.

The toe is a rounded almond: slim to the eye, with real room across the ball of the foot where you actually need it. Nothing rigid crosses the top of the foot — just the soft saddle band, stitched to give.

Underneath, a cushioned footbed and a smooth cream sole with a little height to soften hard floors and pavement.

The measurements that matter: sole height 1.0 in · rounded almond toe · brushed suede upper, tonal stitching.

Fit note: true to size. Wider across the forefoot? The suede gives noticeably after two or three wears — if you prefer room from day one, take the half size up.

Care: brush gently when dry. Suede likes to be left alone.
